Traditional day to get married is Saturday.  Often, in the evening before, the bride has a hen party for her women friends and the groom has held a stag party for her women friends to mark their last day of being single.  On the wedding day itself, the bride is dressed, helped by her mother and the bridesmaids.  It is considered very unlucky for the groom to see the bride in her dress before seeing her in the church.  The bride is taken to the church and walks up the aisle to be given away to the groom by her father.
