Since the days of the first Olympic Games almost 8.000 years ago, sport has occupied a unique place in the ritual expression of the culture and self – image of societies.  In the twentieth century football has become the most popular game ever invented, played in more countries that belong to the United Nations.  It is no wonder, then, that wherever one looks, football can be found exercising its influence.  People seem to feel that football, or indeed all sports and pastimes, can allow any number of communities to physically express their history and culture on the field of play.

 

1- What are the fields in which sport has occupied a unique position?
